How to build an app people can pay for in 7 days for under $100.

I built my own comment-to-DM app in 7 days for about $32, without knowing how to code. Here are the six prompts I’d give you to build yours, whatever your app is.

Start here

I built my own comment-to-DM app in 7 days for about $32. You comment a word on my Instagram video, and it automatically sends you a DM. It’s the first piece of Creator OS, the thing I’m building next.

And I built it without knowing how to code. I used to sell Audis, y’all.

Your app could be a booking tool, habit tracker, quiz, budget planner, or something nobody’s thought of yet. I’m giving you six prompts to help you build your own. Copy them into Claude, in order.

Here’s what you need:

What it doesToolCost
Builds your appClaudePro: $20/month
Saves your codeGitHubFree
Puts it onlineNetlifyFree tier
Gives it an addressDomain (.com)Around $12/year
Takes paymentsStripeFees per sale

Starting budget: about $32, before taxes and transaction fees. Some apps need extra services, and free plans have limits. Check costs before committing.

Seven days is the goal, not a guarantee. Apps needing outside approval can take longer.

How to use this: Replace everything in [brackets] with your answers. When Claude asks a question, just answer normally. Keep all six prompts in the same Claude conversation or project.

Your 7-day plan

  • Day 1Tell Claude your idea.
  • Days 2–3Build one working feature.
  • Day 4Put it online.
  • Day 5Connect your domain.
  • Day 6Set up payments.
  • Day 7Test with real people and launch if everything works.

Prompt 1: Teach Claude your app

Think of this as giving Claude a rulebook so you don’t have to keep explaining yourself.

Prompt 1 · Day 1
You're my app-building coach. I've never coded. Explain things like I'm 12.

My app: [WHAT IT DOES]
Who it's for: [YOUR CUSTOMERS]
How I'll charge: [PRICE OR FREE]
Other apps it connects to: [NONE OR LIST]

Ask me up to 5 questions, one at a time.

Then create a simple project rulebook explaining my app, tools, budget, and 7-day plan. Save it in this project and tell me how to reuse it. Don't make me install anything complicated.

Rules:
- Give me one step at a time.
- Wait until I say "done."
- Choose free options first.
- Never ask for passwords or secret keys.
- Check costs and outside approvals early.
- Test everything before real customers use it.

Tell me exactly what we'll finish on Day 1.

Prompt 2: Build your app

Don’t build 20 features. Build ONE thing people actually need.

Prompt 2 · Days 2–3
Using our project rulebook, help me build version 1 of my app.

Its ONE main job: [MAIN FEATURE]

Do this in order:
1. Explain our plan in 5 simple steps.
2. Check if my idea needs paid tools, special permission, or approval from another company. If so, explain before building.
3. Build the screens people will use.
4. Add a free database only if needed. Explain what that means.
5. If users need accounts, make sure they can only see their own private information.
6. Make it work on phones.
7. Test the main feature and fix errors.

Use the simplest safe setup. Explain what I need to click. Keep extra ideas for version 2.

Prompt 3: Put it on the internet

GitHub saves your code like a video game save point. Netlify puts your app online.

Prompt 3 · Day 4
Help me publish my app using GitHub and Netlify.

Walk me through:
1. Creating a free GitHub account and private code repository.
2. Saving my working code there.
3. Connecting GitHub to a free Netlify site.
4. Setting up any required private keys in Netlify environment variables. Never put them in public code or ask me to paste them here.
5. Checking that private information stays private.
6. Opening my Netlify link on my phone and testing the main feature.

If the free plan has limits or anything costs money, warn me first.

Explain every step like I'm 12.

Prompt 4: Get your domain

A domain is your app’s address. Mine is callmebyzach.com.

Prompt 4 · Day 5
Help me choose and connect a domain.

My app: [APP DESCRIPTION]
My preferred name: [NAME OR UNSURE]

1. Suggest 10 short names.
2. Help me check .com availability and social handles. Don't guess.
3. Compare prices, including renewal costs.
4. Help me buy a domain only after I approve the price.
5. Connect it to Netlify.
6. Turn on free HTTPS (the secure lock).
7. Show me how to check that everything works.

Keep the domain around $12 if possible. If that's unrealistic, explain my options. Don't buy anything for me.

Prompt 5: Get paid with Stripe

This is where things get interesting. But please don’t start charging people before you’ve tested everything.

Prompt 5 · Day 6
Help me accept payments using Stripe.

My price: [PRICE]
Payment type: [ONE TIME / MONTHLY]

Walk me through:
1. Creating Stripe and checking its fees and business requirements.
2. Starting in TEST MODE with fake money.
3. Creating my product and checkout link.
4. Connecting checkout to my app.
5. Setting up a secure webhook so my app confirms payment with Stripe before unlocking paid access.
6. Making sure one customer cannot unlock another customer's account.
7. Setting up the customer portal for billing details and subscription cancellations, if needed.
8. Testing successful payments, failed payments, refunds, and cancellations.
9. Switching to live payments only after tests pass.

Explain webhooks and every new word like I'm 12. Never ask me to paste secret keys into chat. Tell me exactly where they go.

Prompt 6: War room, test, and launch

Before I launched my app, I had a room of AI experts tear it up. You should do the same.

Prompt 6 · Day 7
Review my app like a team of 8 experts.

App: [YOUR LINK]
Price: [YOUR PRICE]
Customer: [WHO IT HELPS]

My experts:
1. Developer: What could break?
2. Security expert: Is customer data safe?
3. Rules expert: Am I following platform and privacy rules?
4. Tester: What happens with mistakes, failed payments, or lots of users?
5. Social media manager: What's my launch strategy?
6. Video expert: Give me 3 strong video hooks.
7. Community manager: Write my comment and DM replies.
8. Growth marketer: How do I find my first 10 paying customers?

Have them challenge each other.

Then:
- Give me a checklist to test with a friend's account, with their permission.
- Include payment, privacy, phone, and account tests.
- Tell me the 5 biggest fixes, in order.
- Write a 30-second launch video.
- Give me a simple plan to find my first 10 customers.

If something isn't safe or working, tell me NOT to launch yet. Don't pretend you tested something you couldn't access.

4 rules that keep you safe

  1. Never paste passwords or secret keys into AI chats. Store app secrets in the right private settings, like Netlify environment variables. Some keys must stay on the server.
  2. Fake money first. Test Stripe before accepting real payments.
  3. Test with a friend’s account. Ask permission, and never use their real payment information for testing.
  4. Don’t ignore the rules. Apps connecting to Instagram, Google, or other services may need approval, a privacy policy, or additional security checks.

Stuck? Give Claude the error message, after removing any private information, and say: “Explain this like I’m 12 and tell me exactly what to click.”

One more thing

If you got here by commenting on my video, that DM came from the app I built. That’s the first piece of Creator OS, and it’s just the start of what I’m building.

Creator OS is what I’m building to be everything I wish somebody had handed me when I started: the DMs, the emails, the payments, getting people the thing they paid for. All the behind-the-scenes stuff that has you up at 2am instead of making content.

Because let me be real with y’all. Growing an audience is one thing. Getting paid from it? That’s a whole different conversation. And that’s where most of us get stuck.

If that’s you, get on the free Creator OS waitlist. No pressure. I just know some of y’all need this.
